HEC Inspection Team Visited Baqai Medical University on 11th February 2017

KARACHI: February 11 (PR): A high ranking inspection team of

Higher Education Commission (HEC), Government of Pakistan

visited Baqai Medical University. The HEC team comprised of senior

members including Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai (Director, QEC &

Faculty Training & Development Center, University of Balochistan,

Quetta), Dr. Nelofer Jamil (Director QEC & Chairperson,

Environmental Sciences Department, Sardar Bahadur Khan

Women’s University, Quetta) and Dr. Hanif-Ur- Rahman, QEC

Department, University of Turbat).

The visit of HEC team was conducted on the directives of Prime

Minister’s initiative to review all the SOP’s & TOR’s in Pakistani

Universities.

On arrival at the Varsity, BMU Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fareeduddin

Baqai, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahida Baqai, Pro- VC Major General

(Retd.) Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Principals of Baqai Medical and

Dental Colleges Prof. Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed and Prof. Dr. Kashif Ikram

welcomed the august delegation. BMU Director of Quality

Enhancement Cell Lt. Col. (Retd.) Dr. Shahida Nagi, Director of

Finance Aalijah Yousuf were also present on the occasion.

After welcome address by Vice Chancellor Prof. Zahida Baqai, QEC

Director Dr. Shahida Nagi gave a detailed presentation highlighting

all important academic, research and administrative aspects of the

university. She also presented overview of BMU’s community

outreach & development programs underlining Varsity’s

achievements in postgraduate studies and research. Dr. Nagi also

apprised the visiting delegation of various curricular and extra-

curricular activities taking place in the University.

The inspection team members asked questions pertaining to

academic and research activities being undertaken at the University

– to which BMU team addressed all queries satisfactorily. The

visitors were also given details about various ongoing scholarship

programs as well as research grants secured by BMU faculty

members from Pakistan and abroad.

While praising BAQAIS for their resilience and dedication to

strengthening the field of Medical Sciences in Pakistan, Dr. Zahoor

Ahmed said the BMU should be commended for promoting a culture

of inquisition and higher education in Pakistan, saying that adequate

funding and appropriate infrastructure greatly enhances prospects

for socio-economic growth of a society.

The HEC team also inspected different departments, constituent

institutes of the University and enquired about the available

facilities.

Dr. Hanif-Ur- Rahman and his team members expressed their

satisfaction over the BMU’s state-of- the-art higher education

program. At the end, Prof. Fareeduddin Baqai and Prof. Zahida Baqai

thanked the HEC team and reiterated their commitment that they

would continue making relentless efforts for an enlightened and

progressive Pakistan. The Baqais also presented mementos to the

visiting dignitaries.
